how much are you squating ? seen a thing the other day that if you can lift your weight up with one leg on this machine you were maxed out on speed. But if you couldn't then you could improve on speed 10 folds. Boost your legs work on some explosive moves and you will get faster.
if you can lift 6 or 7 times a week , and don't have any problems your not lifting heavy enough. |

How tall are you? Weight? What type of offence is run? If your really only a downhill runner at FB build up your quads as much as you can cuz youll need it to keep driving foward. Squats and Leg presses can help with this. If its more of a westcoast O then chances are youll be running out of the backfeild for catches so speed will help. Try doing some seated and laying leg curls. Calf raises will help for speed too.
All around good things to do- Dead lifts, lunges, squats, look into kettle bell training, it will give you good core stregnth. power cleans. Talk to your football coach and see what he recommends you do. no one knows what he wants from you more then him. plus if he sees your working hard it will give you a bit of an edge. |

grab a medicine ball and sqaut down then explode up while throwing the ball, builds great exploveness...
take 2 or 3 45lb plates and mountain climb them across a gym floor for a few sets, helps to have towelsunderneath the plates so you dont scratch the floor, good for explosiveness off the bat. do some burpees. |

The Vertical Jump Bible really helped my speed, along with jump rope.
Try looking at your stride length also. The 40 yard should only be done in around 20 steps. Working on your 10 and 20 yard dashes with improve your overall 40 time dramatically also. |

What are your workouts like? Whats your squat? Whats your hang clean and power clean? What speed work do you currently doing? do you do distance cardio? or are you actually working on your sprint? How's your form for sprinting? Do you jump rope? Do you do your other calisthenics and plyos? Theres a lot of things that will improve your speed but we need to know exactly where your at to help you. Otherwise we will likely suggest things your already doing, or beyond.

To build speed or quickness do explosive exercises such as squat jumps. Start off in a lunge position then come to a squat then explode up. Also resistance running and many cut back reps. Cut backs are just running full spped hit a spot and cut. Try to pick you about a 40yd by 40yd square and go.
