From what I have read, all the games the Galaxy played, the attendance was way up. They played a game in Australia that had 80,000 people, the most in the states was in New York at about 71,000. Do you thnk that it will continue to rise over here? and since he signed a big deal here that will over superstars signed with the MLS?

yea its difficult as the US have so many high profile sports. Whereas in the UK Football (Soccer) is the most popular sport which almost everybody has an opinion on.
Didnt Pele play in the MLS at one stage? if he cant raise the profile i dont think anybody else will help too much. |

Maybe for the younger crowd but I could care less if some famous soccer player and his wife are in the States. Its way too boring IMO. I don't mind watching the end of a game but to watch a whole game with only a few scores or none during the entire game bore me. Soccer's largest problem in the States is we have too many other sports to watch like:
NFL Football College Football Baseball, both leagues Moto X UFC Fights Boxing Racing Basketball I'd rather watch all of the above sports or even Rugby before Soccer.

I think its gonna be difficult to break soccer into the mainstream in the US.
It is tough to break any new sport into countries that have a couple of sports that they are brought up with. In the UK we are brought up with soccer, cricket and rugby as our main sports so to bring say the NFL to us is going to be difficult as we have rugby which has been embedded into our culture for over a hundred years. In the US you have football, baseball and basketball as your main 3 so unless we can offer something more different and something that can catch the imagination its gonna be tough. Sports like UFC can and have broke mainstream as it brings a new thrill and excitement to it and boxing has suffered in big name fights over the last couple of years and UFC has offered this. So unless one of the major sports starts to lack the sparkle it had and another sport can offer the spark then maybe it could go mainstream. One big reason soccer is stuggling as we have a bunch of prema donnas whi cry when they get looked at so it is seen as a wimpish sport. well IMO anyway

Exactly. He's playing for AC Milan starting in January, I don't know what good it is now b/c they are all ready stacked. I would've liked to seen him play in Italy instead of Spain way back when. I always liked Beckham, I think he still has talent.
